Obituary for Edward G. Means, Jr.

Edward G. Means, Jr., of Sellersville, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2019, at his residence. He was 72.

He was the beloved husband of Dolores F. (Brown) Means for 41 years until her death in 2017.

Born in Doylestown, he was the son of the late Edward G. Means, Sr. and the late Eleanor (Godlewski) Means Marsteller. Ed was a 1964 graduate of Lansdale Catholic High School.

A self-employed masonry and builder contractor, Mr. Means had spent his professional career building homes.

He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville.

An avid train collector, Ed was also a true outdoorsman, especially enjoying fishing, hunting, and camping. He also liked to cook, preparing his favorite Italian foods, especially spaghetti and meatballs. Ed’s constant companion was his pal, “Toots,” his devoted Bichon Frise.

Mr. Means is survived by his children, Lori Ann Bean, of Birdsboro, Lee Gehman, of Delaware, Mark Gehman and his wife, Amy, of Telford, Gregg Gehman, of Delaware, Charles E. Means and his husband, Rob Miketa, of New York, NY, Edward G. Means III, of Harleysville; eight grandchildren, Amber Lynne, Gregg Jr., Elizabeth, Will, Grant, Isaac, Julia, and Melody; a brother, David J. Means, of Sellersville; an aunt, Lenore Souder, of Perkasie; and “Toots.”

His memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2019, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
