Obituary for Perma L. Hibbs

Perma L. Hibbs, of the Lutheran Community at Telford, formerly of West Rockhill Township, passed away at her residence on Thursday, January 24, 2019. She was 91.

She was the beloved wife of Clarence Hibbs for 71 years, having just celebrated their wedding anniversary on December 24.

Born in Sellersville, she was the daughter of the late Raymond L. and Annie (Schoch) Leister.

Mrs. Hibbs was a homemaker, who delighted in her time at home.

Perma was a long-time member of St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sellersville, where she and her husband had often volunteered as greeters.

She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Sellersville Fire Department, where she was a member of the Kitchen Committee.

An avid bird watcher, Perma also enjoyed reading and sewing. Renowned for her famous peach pie, she was also a talented baker. Her holiday dinners at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter were much anticipated by the entire family.

“Wait till your father gets home.” “Nobody knows you there.” and “You don’t need to know.” were her favorite quotes and used with great frequency with her four children. However, her sunny smile was a constant reminder of her warm, welcoming nature.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hibbs is survived by her children, Linda Hufnagle and her husband, Thomas, of Sellersville; Bonnie Furlong, of Lancaster; David Hibbs and his wife, Brenda, of Perkasie; Tina Fiorey and her husband, Robert, of Columbia, South Carolina; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, a brother, Rosell Leister; and a sister, Mazie Seachrist, both of the Lutheran Community at Telford.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Paul and Clair, and two sisters, Myrtle and Geraldine.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019, in the Chapel of The Lutheran Community at Telford, 12 Lutheran Home Drive, Telford, PA 18969, where a visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Interment will follow in Sellersville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 25 East Church Street, Sellersville, PA 18960.
