Obituary for Henry F. Heywood

Henry F. Heywood, of Sellersville, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019, in Quakertown Center, Quakertown. He was 85.

He was the beloved husband of Beverly A. (Holden) Heywood. The couple would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in June 2019.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Henry A. and Elizabeth G. (Dugan) Heywood.

Mr. Heywood was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War. He also later served for 16 years with the U. S. Air Force.

Henry had been employed for 24 years by SEPTA as a bus instructor.

He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville.

An avid distance runner in his younger years, Henry had enjoyed all sports, especially watching the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. He particularly loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Michael T. Heywood and his wife, Rolyn, of Sellersville, and Kenneth F. Heywood; five grandchildren, Christina G., Sean Michael, Maya Elizabeth, Claire, and Kevin; and two sisters, Elizabeth Fuxa, of Washington, and Teresa Heywood, of Philadelphia.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Heywood.

A visitation will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.

Interment with military honors will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
