Obituary for Mary Jane Madden

Mary Jane (Morgan) Madden, formerly of Audubon, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at the Sanatoga Center, Lower Pottsgrove Township. She was 92.

She was the wife of the late Richard S. “Dick” Madden, with whom she had celebrated 63 years of marriage prior to his passing on June 14, 2012.

Mary Jane was born in Norristown, PA, the daughter of the late Robert and Bessie (Goodwin) Morgan. She was a 1943 graduate of Norristown High School.

Mary Jane started her career at Bell Telephone and retired from Lee’s Carpets in Audubon.

Mrs. Madden was a longtime member of Haws Avenue United Methodist Church, in Norristown, PA, where she and her husband volunteered in the soup kitchen. She also volunteered at the Daisy Thrift Shop in the church.

Mary Jane and Dick had a mutual love of golf. They belonged to Spring Ford Country Club in Royersford, PA for many years. Golf lead them to spend many winters enjoying the links in Sedona, AZ and frequently attending The Masters, in Augusta, GA. They also enjoyed traveling abroad to several European destinations.

Mary Jane was a movie buff who enjoyed watching classic movies. She also enjoyed lunching with a group of her friends who called themselves the "Golden Girls.”

Mrs. Madden is survived by her two children: Jeffrey Madden and his wife, Colleen, of Royersford, PA; Debra Cunningham and her husband, Michael, of Philadelphia, PA. In addition, Mary Jane is survived by three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Nate Madden, his wife, Anna, and their three children, Chase, Luke and Mia; Drew Madden, his wife, Kim, and their two children, Drexel and Nixon; and Abbey Klein and her husband, Jesse. Mary Jane is also survived by her and Dick’s beloved dog, Casey."

A memorial service in her honor will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 14, 2018, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 10:30 until the time of services.

Interment in Sellersville Cemetery will follow the memorial service. All are invited to a luncheon following the conclusion of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
