Obituary for Fred M. Wietecha

Fred M. Wietecha, of Hilltown Township, passed away peacefully at the Lutheran Community at Telford on Friday, February 23, 2018. He was 91.

He was the husband of the late Anne Mae (Kanuck) Wietecha, with whom he had celebrated 59 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2015.

Born in Hilltown Township, he was the son of the late Thomas and Caroline (Grasela) Wietecha.

Mr. Wietecha enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served in Korea during the Korean War, obtaining the rank of corporal.

Fred worked his entire career as a sheet metal welder for Aydin Raytor Company, North Wales.

He was a long-time active member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hilltown.

A true homebody, Fred loved puttering around his property. He especially enjoyed gardening and was most proud of his tomatoes.

The family would like to thank and commend the extraordinary staff at the Lutheran Community for their loving and devoted care of Fred. Despite the briefness of his stay, he felt truly at home.

Mr. Wietecha is survived by his two sons, Gregory F. Wietecha, and his wife, Sheila, of Nazareth; Gary T. Wietecha, M.D., and his partner, Calvin Jenkins, of Hatfield; and the two grand dogs, “Gus” and “Stella.”

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by nine siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2018, in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 100 Broad Street, Hilltown, PA 18927, where a visitation will be held from 9-9:45 a.m.

Interment with military honors will be in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hilltown.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Wietecha’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
