Obituary for Shirley A. Brown Knowles

Shirley A. Brown Knowles, of Perkasie, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at her residence. She was 84.

She was the beloved wife of the late Leonard W. Brown, who passed away in 1975, and the late Glenn Knowles, who passed away in 1986. She was also the beloved companion of the late James Steich.

Born in Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Gladys (Fehr) Heller.

Shirley had been employed as a knitter at the former Jacques de Loux, Inc., of Sellersville. Prior to that, she had worked as an operator for Bell Telephone Company in the Stroudsburg area.

She is survived by her two daughters, Deborah E. Curley and her husband, Michael, of Quakertown, and Kathleen L. Brown, of Perkasie; three grandchildren, Michael, Barbara Jo, and Timothy; five great- grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Kaitlyn, Autumn, and Danny; and a sister, Dorothy Ann Gerhardt, of Neola, PA.

In addition to her two husbands and companion, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Bilger, in 1997, a grandson, Craig Bilger, and a brother, Robert Heller.

Her funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a calling hour will be held from 6:30 p.m. until time of services.

Graveside services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Stroudsburg Cemetery, 1073 Dreher Avenue, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
