Obituary for Arnold M. Besch

Arnold M. Besch, of Sellersville, formerly of Harford (Susquehanna County), passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Genesis HealthCare, Quakertown Center, Quakertown. He was 91.

He was the beloved husband of the late Marie A. "Bonnie" (Bonnema) Somadge Besch for 47 years until her death in 2011.

Born in Quakertown, he was the son of the late Charles and Viola (Solliday) Besch.

Mr. Besch was a proud U.S. Navy veteran, having served on board two ships, the USS Young America and My Day Star, in the South Pacific during World War II.

Arnold had worked as a carpenter for most of his life and was a member of the Philadelphia Carpenters Union. In his later years, he worked as a groundskeeper at Elk Mountain Ski Resort, Union Dale.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Arnold had enjoyed wood working, making many pieces to sell at local craft shows.

He is survived by his daughters, Sherry Ormeño, and her husband, José, of Sellersville; Carlotta Stoudt, and her husband, Jeffrey, of Lebanon, Ohio; Deborah Christensen, and her husband, Jesse, of Rapidan, Virginia; Kathleen Christensen, and her husband, James, of Culpepper, Virginia; a brother, Harold Besch, and his wife, Doris, of Chalfont; a sister-in-law, Agnes Besch, of Quakertown; 17 grandchildren; and 34 great- grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Hatcher, and a brother, Earl Besch.

Graveside services will be private at the convenience of the family.
