Obituary for Ronald W. Kraekel

Ronald W.  Kraekel
Ronald W. Kraekel, a long-time resident of Sellersville, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at his residence. He was 72.

He was the beloved husband of Susan R. (Frederick) Kraekel for 44 years.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late William F. and Melva (Kick) Kraekel. Ron was a 1961 graduate of Abington High School.

Ron had been self-employed for many years, owning and operating R & R Imported Auto Parts, Lansdale. He retired in 2005.

Mr. Kraekel was a long-time member of St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he had served as an usher and on the Christian Education Committee.

A beach lover, Ron enjoyed family trips to the Jersey shore, especially Long Beach Island and Ocean City. With his wife, he had also loved traveling to Chautauqua, New York. An avid fisherman, Ron also enjoyed model trains, collecting seashells, and tropical fish.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Kraekel is survived by his children: William M. Kraekel and his wife, Suzanne, of Perkasie; Jennifer D. Bedford and her husband, Derek, of Sanford, Maine; Ronald L. Kraekel and his wife, Heather, of Souderton; and ten grandchildren: Bryan, Madalyn, Bradley, Patrick, Zachary, David, Emily, Andrew, Philip, and Jonah. He is also survived by a sister, Joyce Dewsbury, of Gainesville, Florida; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, “Snickers.”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Aileen Gortner.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, in St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20 Dill Ave., Perkasie, PA 18944, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Union Cemetery, Perkasie.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Kraekel’s memory may be made to St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at the address above or to Grand View Hospice, 700 Lawn Avenue, Sellersville, PA 18960.
