Obituary for William H. Turner, Jr.

William H.  Turner, Jr.
William H. Turner, Jr., of Green Lane, formerly of Ambler, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016, in LifeQuest Nursing Center, Milford Township. He was 86.

Born in Center Square, he was the son of the late William H., Sr. and Elizabeth (Emmell) Turner.

Mr. Turner was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served aboard the U.S.S. Caloosahatchee, a fleet oiler that saw service in the post-World War II years.

Bill had been self-employed as a mechanic and a truck driver. As a young man, he had been employed as a florist in North Wales.

Mr. Turner was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (Ridge Valley), Sellersville.

An avid hunter, Bill had loved anything car-related, including building and racing stock cars. He also loved to read. Always an optimist, he looked on the bright side of everything.

He is survived by his two sons, William H. Turner III, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Robert J. Turner, of Boulder, Colorado; a brother, James A. Turner, of Souderton; his long-time companion, Romaine Croissette, of Green Lane; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and Romaine’s sons, Scott Croissette; Steve Croissette; and Ron Croissette.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Perry, Marion “Judy” King, Gladys Smick, and Katherine Dickson, and a brother, George Turner, Sr.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 28, in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (Ridge Valley), 910 Allentown Road, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Interment will be in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, Ridge Valley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 480 Norristown Rd., Ste. 150, Blue Bell, PA 19422.
