Obituary for Betty S. (Schneider) Pfeil

Betty S. Pfeil, of Hilltown Township, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015, at her residence. She was 87.

She was the beloved wife of the late Karl R. Pfeil, Sr., who died in 1996.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Frederick J. and Lillian (Strock) Schneider. Betty was a 1946 graduate of Hatboro High School.

Mrs. Pfeil was a homemaker.

Betty had volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Hilltown Civic Organization. She had also been a member of the Hilltown Historical Society.

A former member of the Bux-Mont Riding Club, she had enjoyed horseback riding. Betty also rode a BMW motorcycle and, with her husband, had participated in BMW motorcycle rallies, going as far as Colorado.

An avid gardener, Betty also enjoyed baking and doing crewel work. She had also collected Native American art.

Her caring, helpful character led her to serve as a mentor to many of her childhood friends. Her greatest joy was to be found in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Pfeil is survived by her children: Karen Newman and her husband, David, of Solebury; Susan Manley and her husband, Paul, of Naples, FL; Frederick Pfeil and his wife, Lisa, of Hatboro; David Pfeil and his wife, Kim, of Quakertown; eight grandchildren: Brett Newman and his wife, Ellen; David Wambold and his wife, Erin; Melissa Pfeil; Jessica Pfeil; Karl R. Pfeil III; Katrina Pfeil; Andrew Pfeil; Alix Pfeil; six great-grandchildren: Britney; Brooke; Jacob; Lillian; Samuel; and Sofia; and her devoted Airedale, “Lilly.”

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Karl R. Pfeil, Jr., in 1973 and a sister, Marjorie Craft, in 1999.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 3551 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140 or at www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.
