Obituary for Jill Suzanne Alderfer

Jill Suzanne Alderfer, of West Rockhill Township, formerly a long-time resident of Harleysville, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015, after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Gerald C. Alderfer for 40 years. She was 61.

Born in Sellersville, she was the daughter of Geraldine (Moyer) Struber, of West Rockhill Township, and the late Albert F. Struber.

Jill was a 1971 graduate of Pennridge High School, Perkasie. She later received her nursing degree from Montgomery County Community College, Blue Bell. More recently, she had received training as a cosmetologist and massage therapist.

For the past twelve years, Jill had owned and operated her own beauty shop, Jill’s Salon, in Sellersville.

Mrs. Alderfer was a member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Perkasie, where she had served on the Consistory.

A lifelong music fan, Jill loved going to concerts, especially the Moody Blues and Robbie Williams. She also enjoyed reading, shopping, and traveling. A sun worshipper, she adored the beach. As a Philadelphia Phillies and Red Sox fan, she also loved going to baseball games.

Jill also liked to exercise and workout, enjoying Zumba classes, yoga, and running. She was an animal lover, especially dogs, from mutts to purebreds. She loved all flowers, particularly roses, and enjoyed gardening.

A woman of strong faith, she was a loving wife, devoted mother, attentive daughter, caring sister, and affectionate friend. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her son, Justin Alderfer and his fiancée, Ali Velez, of Los Angeles, CA; her sister, Jane Ehrhart, of Chalfont; a nephew, Ian Ehrhart, and his wife, Rebecca, of Chester Springs, PA; a grand-niece, Zoe; and her devoted dog, “Mr. V.”

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death just recently by her beloved Shih Tzu, “Wicket.”

Her memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015, in St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, 110 North 6th Street, Perkasie, PA 18944, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, Utah 84741-5000 or at donations@bestfriends.org.
