Obituary for Dennis R. Agnew

Dennis R. Agnew
Dennis “Denny” Raymond Agnew, of Perkasie, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015, after a courageous battle with various medical conditions. He was 80 years old.

He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of over 50 years, Barbara (Dodds) Agnew, and their six children: Louis Francis, of Perkasie; Michael and Linda Francis, of Perkasie; Pamela Jones and Thomas Herron, of Harleysville; Thomas Agnew, of Blandon; Casey Agnew and Melissa Raudenbush, of Perkasie; Alice Agnew and Kathryn Spare, of Center Valley.

He was an amazing grandfather to Christina, Jason, Jesse, Whitney, Cassie, Mark, Valerie, Matthew, Gillian, Audrey, Will, and Rileigh; and great-grandfather to Cameron, Hailey, Christopher, Jasmine, Isabella, Aurora, and Dylan.

He was the son of the late Thomas G. and Alice (Coates) Agnew and the beloved brother to Betty Jane Partin, of Sewell, NJ, and the late Raymond Agnew. He was also Uncle Denny to many nieces and nephews.

Denny graduated from Pennsylvania Military College, now known as Widener University.

He was a mechanical engineer and worked at the Naval Air Development Center, Johnsville, until his retirement in 1990. His career was filled with many achievements, but none matched his commitment to the well-being of his co-workers through his dedication to the Employee Assistance Program.

This commitment was evident away from his job as well. He was a friend of Bill Wilson for over 42 years.

Denny was an active member of St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie, where he had served on Church Council, as an usher, and a counter. He supported the church and its members in its service to the local spiritual community.

His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015, in St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20 Dill Ave., Perkasie, PA 18944, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at the address above or to Grand View Hospice, 700 Lawn Ave., Sellersville, PA 18960.
