Obituary for William A. Trumbauer

William A.  Trumbauer
William A. Trumbauer, a long-time resident of Sellersville, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, in Chestnut Knoll Assisted Living, Boyertown. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth V. “Betty” (Nase) Trumbauer, who died in 1987. He was 93.

Born in Quakertown, he was the son of the late Herbert and Mary Stella (Naudascher) Trumbauer.

Mr. Trumbauer was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served on a minesweeper in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II. He was the recipient of a Bronze Star.

In his civilian life, Bill had been employed as a signal maintainer for 42 years with the Reading Railroad.

When his sons were young, Mr. Trumbauer had served as an assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 1, Sellersville.

He had been a member of the American Legion, Nase-Kraft Post 255, Sellersville. An avid birdwatcher, Bill was also a member of the Audubon Bird Club.

With his wife, Bill had enjoyed camping and birding trips throughout the East Coast states, California, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and Quebec. He was also a talented wood carver, especially of birds. He was a Jeff Gordon NASCAR fan as well.

Mr. Trumbauer is survived by his two sons, Thomas W. Trumbauer, Sr. and his wife, Dorinda, of Chesapeake, VA; Mark A. Trumbauer, of Perkasie; two grandsons, Thomas W. Trumbauer, Jr. and Andrew H. Trumbauer, both of Chesapeake; a brother, Skip Trumbauer, and his wife, Evelyn, of Coopersburg; a nephew, Blake Nixon, and his wife, Mary, of Quakertown; and friend, Kim Lear, of Barto.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Interment with military honors will follow in Sellersville Cemetery.
