Obituary for Beatrice V. (Haring) Gerhart

Beatrice V. (Haring)  Gerhart
Beatrice V. “Beatie” Gerhart, of the Lutheran Community at Telford, formerly a long-time resident of Sellersville, passed away Saturday, February 14, at her residence. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul A. “Chic” Gerhart for 68 years until his death in 2002. She was 102.

Born in Trumbauersville, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Sallie A. (Schoenly) Haring.

Beatie had been employed as a seamstress at the former Penn Pants, Sellersville. She had also worked at Perkasie Uniform, Perkasie as well as several other local clothing factories.

The oldest member of St. Michael's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sellersville, she had served on the Altar Care Committee.

Beatie had loved growing flowers in her many gardens, specifically roses. She had also always enjoyed going shopping and getting the best deals, especially at Wanamaker’s and Hess’s. Beatie loved animals and children, enjoying the many visits from the St. Michael’s youth groups over the years. She liked taking photographs and always enjoyed looking at other people’s photos.

Mrs. Gerhart is survived by five nephews and one niece: Richard Haring and his wife, Margaret, of Quakertown; James Jacoby, of Trumbauersville; Ronald K. Jacoby, of Red Hill; Paul Jacoby and his wife, Barbara, of Sandisfield, MA; Jeffrey N. Jacoby and his wife, Holly, of Sellersville; Dorene Gulden and her husband, Jere, of Telford; and her special friends and loved ones from St. Michael’s Lutheran Church.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jonas Haring and William Haring, and two sisters, Florence Sparrow and Glenna Benner.

Her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 20, in St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 25 East Church Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.

A private interment will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Lutheran Church at the above address.
