Obituary for Lena L. (Lieb) Hansen

Lena L. Hansen, of Perkasie, formerly of Northeast Philadelphia, passed away in the Rockhill Mennonite Community, West Rockhill Township, on Saturday, May 17, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late John M. Hansen, who died in 1998. She was 87.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Gustav and Louise (Herrmann) Lieb.

Mrs. Hansen had been employed for many years as a bookkeeper with Acme Markets, Philadelphia, retiring in 1992.

Lena was a former longtime member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Philadelphia, where she had served on the Altar Guild, Grace Circle and had also taught Sunday school.

An avid gardener and bird watcher, Lena was also a talented artist, especially painting and sketching. A great baker, she also enjoyed sewing.

Mrs. Hansen is survived by her three children: Linda L. Shaykhian (Ali), of Merritt Island, Florida; John P. Hansen (Dineen), of Perkasie; Eric C. Hansen (Sylvia), of Warrington; three grandchildren: Kimberly A. Stauffer (Ryan); Matt Patkus; Alexander Hansen; two great-grandsons: Christian Hansen; and Nathan Stauffer; two sisters: Louise Lieb, of Philadelphia; and Rosemarie Gormley, of Havertown; two step- grandchildren: Jenna Brocchini (Michael); and Laila Shaykhian; and three step- great- grandchildren: Kyran Brocchini; Shayda Brocchini; and Nahla Shaykhian.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Feasterville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Hansen’s name may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, 5185 Castor Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19124.
