Obituary for Richard C. Gassner

Richard C. Gassner
Richard Charles “Dick” Gassner, 68, of Boyertown, passed away at his residence on Thursday, March 13, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Donna M. (Rims) Gassner for fifteen years.

Born in Lafayette Hill, he was the son of the late Horace and Mildred (Curlis) Gassner.

Dick was a U. S. Marine Corps. veteran, having served during the Vietnam War.

Since 1994, he had been employed as a maintenance worker and carpenter with The Baldwin School, Bryn Mawr, retiring in 2012, due to his health. Prior to that, he had been self-employed for over 20 years as a roofer and carpenter. In his younger years, he was a mechanic with West German Motor Imports, Ambler.

A talented woodworker and cabinet maker, Dick was very athletic and had run cross country and played basketball. He also enjoyed shooting at the gun range.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children: Richard Charles Gassner, Jr., of Oxford, PA; Brittany A. Donnelly, of Wayne; James L. Gassner, of Boyertown; a brother, Robert L. Gassner, and his wife, Alice, of Trooper; a niece, Alison Gassner, and her husband, Gautam Srinivasan; and a grandniece, Harper Gassner-Srinivasan, all of Alexandria, Virginia.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by a sister, Judith Gassner.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014, in the Residence Building of The Baldwin School, 701 Montgomery Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
