Obituary for Jacob C. Thomas

Jacob C. Thomas, of Sellersville, entered into rest at his residence on Sunday, June 23, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Elaine (Breneisen) Thomas for 56 years. He was 81.

Born in Tylersport, he was the son of the late Jacob Veth Thomas and Miriam (Nase) Thomas. Jake was a 1951 graduate of Sell-Perk High School.

Also known affectionately as “Chuck” and “Juny,” Jake had been employed for 44 ½ years as a machinist and lathe operator at the former U. S. Gauge Division, Ametek, Inc., Sellersville, retiring in 1997.

Mr. Thomas was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (Ridge Valley), Sellersville, where he had sung in the choir.

Jake was a life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose No. 1539, of Sellersville and the Great Swamp Fish, Game, and Forestry Association, of Trumbauersville.

A passionate outdoorsman, Jake loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed playing his guitar and singing, even writing two original songs. He was a member of the bands, “The Bandits” and "The 4 Gents."

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children: Kathy E. Thomas, of Sellersville; Kevin J. Thomas and his wife, Diane, of Macungie; Glenn C. Thomas and his wife, Barbara, of Sellersville; Gayle I. Mitzel and her husband, Keith, of Kilauea, Hawaii; six grandchildren: Candis, Venessa, Krista, Justin, Brittany, and Shane; two great-grandchildren: Ty’Shawn and Emme; four sisters: Pauline Landis, Mary Landis, Ruth Delp, and Janet Brown; two brothers: Henry Thomas and Carl Thomas; and his buddy, “Bruno,” a Jack Russell terrier.

His Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 29, in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (Ridge Valley), 910 Allentown Road, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call Saturday morning at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
