Obituary for Shirley V. (Allison) Herndon

Shirley V. (Allison)  Herndon
Shirley V. Herndon, a long-time resident of Perkasie, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013, at her residence. She was the beloved wife of Paul Kent Herndon for 46 years. She was 83.

Born in Doylestown, she was the daughter of the late Earl R. and Laura (Stover) Allison. She was a graduate of
Central Bucks High School.

Shirley had been employed for 40 years at the former U. S. Gauge Division, Ametek, Inc., Sellersville.

With her husband, Mrs. Herndon enjoyed going to flea markets. She also loved to watch game shows and to do jigsaw and word search puzzles. An avid weekly Bingo player at the Sellersville and Tylersport fire departments, Shirley volunteered at both firehouses by selling game card packages to players.

An animal and bird lover who delighted in being outdoors, Shirley loved to feed the wildlife in her backyard “nature” preserve.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children: Donald L. Allison and his wife, Helen, of Quakertown; Terry M. Allison, of Perkasie; Susan L. Spencer and her husband, David, of Marana, AZ; one granddaughter, Stephanie A. Allison, of Quakertown; and a step-son, Stephen Herndon, of Warrington.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: William, Richard, and Donald Allison and a sister, Evelyn Shaefer.

Her funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, February 11, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Shirley’s name to Grand View Hospice, 700 Lawn Avenue, Sellersville, PA 18960 or to Last Chance Ranch, 9 Beck Road, Quakertown, PA 18951.
