Frank L.  Eyre, Jr.
Frank L. Eyre, Jr., 85, a life-long resident of Eyre Avenue, Sellersville, passed away Wednesday, July 25, in Phoebe Richland Health Care Center, Richlandtown. He was the beloved husband of the late Miriam Rose (Lavelle) Eyre, who died in 1999.

Born in West Rockhill Township, he was a son of the late Frank and Mary (Reinl) Eyre, Sr.

He was a 1941 graduate of Sell-Perk High School, Sellersville.

Mr. Eyre was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a Quartermaster in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska, during World War II. After the war, he entered the National Guard in Sellersville and served until 1951.

Trained by his father as a sewing machine mechanic, he worked for forty years at many former local pants and clothing factories, including the Eyre Pants Manufacturing Company, Sellersville; the Glasgow Clothing Company, Lansdale; the Royal Pants Factory, Perkasie; and Renninger Pants Factory, Quakertown, where he retired in 1985. He also had worked part-time at American Safety Clothing, Inc, Sellersville, and Merrill Y. Landis, Ltd., Telford.

A member of St. Agnes Church, Sellersville since 1945, he was active with the Silver and Gold Club and had served as a volunteer sexton. He also organized the buses for local high school students attending Lansdale Catholic High School.

Frank was a life member of the Sellersville Fire Department, volunteering with the Carnival Committee and serving as a carnival bingo caller. He also repaired the fire company jackets and sewed department patches.

He was a member of the American Legion Nase-Kraft Post 255, Sellersville. He, also, was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Cardinal Stritch Council, Quakertown. Frank was also the part-time manager of the Perkasie Owls for a short time.

An avid camper, Frank liked to travel. He was also a Lionel model train enthusiast and enjoyed woodworking, and gardening.

Mr. Eyre is survived by four children: John F. Eyre and his wife, LucyAnn, Winston-Salem, NC; Kenneth M. Eyre, West Chester; Mary M. Litschauer and her husband, Edward, Ottsville; Timothy M. Eyre and his wife, Linda, Dublin; and eight grandsons: Ian Eyre, Michael Eyre, Dylan Eyre, Thomas Eyre, Jason Litschauer, Ryan Eyre, Dean Litschauer, and Nicholas Eyre.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Eyre, who died in 1959, and six sisters: Mary Bert Nase, Thelma Brown, Evelyn Nase, Eleanor Hettrick, Ethel Seymour, and Frances Herzer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 30, at 10: 00 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville. Family and friends may call at the church Monday morning from 9:00 AM until 9: 45 AM. Interment will be in the adjacent parish cemetery.
