What are the duties of a Funeral Director?

Remove the deceased and transport the remains to the funeral home (Anytime day or night, 24/7.)

Notify proper authorities, if necessary

Meet with the family to obtain necessary authorizations and to make service arrangements

Assist the family with purchase of a cemetery plot, casket, urn, and burial vault

Gather information for the completion of an obituary and death certificate

Compose and submit obituaries and death notices to the newspapers of choice

Complete death certificate

Process death certificates with the local registrar for family use with banks, insurance companies, and other benefits programs
