Obituary for Curtis D. Ohl

Curtis DelRoy Ohl, 87, a 61-year resident of Sellersville, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, in Quakertown Center - Genesis HealthCare, Quakertown. He was the husband of the late Edith (Reabold) Ohl for 62 years, until her death in 2006.

Born in Lehighton, he was the son of the late Harry F. and Augusta (Sandel) Ohl.

Mr. Ohl was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served in the South Pacific during World War II.

He was employed by the U.S. Gauge Division of Ametek, Inc., Sellersville, for 46 years, serving on the Shop and Negotiating Committees and in the Central Labor Union.

Upon his retirement, Mr. Ohl worked part-time for five years for Thomas & Betts, Perkasie.

He was elected as a Democratic committeeman for the 3rd District, Sellersville. Curt had volunteered with the Bucks County Boy Scout Council. He had attended the Pennsylvania State University - Allentown Campus.

Mr. Ohl was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ, Souderton, where he had volunteered with the church mailings and was active with the "Still Going Strong" group.

A sports fan, Curt enjoyed watching the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, and NASCAR.

Mr. Ohl is survived by a daughter: Diane J. Moyer, and her husband, James, of Souderton; a son: Duane L. Ohl, of Somerset; a grandson: Travis S. Moyer, and his wife, Denise, of Quakertown; two great-grandsons: Dylan and Tyler, of Quakertown; two sisters: Mary Ohl, of Quakertown; and Betty Garon, of Parker, Colorado; and a brother: Robert Ohl, of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Chet, and a sister, Gladys.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at 11:00 AM in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, where family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until time of service.

Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Zwingli United Church of Christ, 350 Wile Avenue, Souderton, PA 18964.
