Fred A. Patton
Fred A. Patton, a longtime resident of Silverdale, passed away unexpectedly and suddenly at his residence on Thursday, July 12, 2018. He was 76.
He was the beloved husband of Joyce E. (Rosenberger) Patton. They would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on July 29.
Born in Sellersville, he was the son of the late William T. and Sadie (Allem) Patton.
Fred earned both his Bachelor of Science degree in 1964 and his Masters in Education in 1967 from the former East Stroudsburg State College.
Mr. Patton served as an educator and football coach at Springfield High School, Montgomery County. During his 30-year tenure as assistant and head coach, he led his team to two undefeated seasons. He also served as assistant coach at Abington High School and Souderton High School. After retirement, he taught classes at Gwynedd Mercy College.
He was a member of St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie.
An avid sports fan, Fred had also enjoyed gardening. Most especially, he had loved spending time with his grandchildren. Fred’s favorite quote was “to everything there is a season."
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children, David A. Patton and his wife, Karen A., of Sellersville; William Fred Patton, of Avon, Indiana; Timothy A. Patton, of Bernville; and Susan G. Taylor and her husband, Paul, of Helena, Montana; 11 grandchildren, CarolAnne, Erin, Laura, Jessica, Patrick, Chelsea, Jacob, Sadie, Samantha, Megan, and Thomas; and a brother, John R. Patton, and his wife, Nancy, of Perkasie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Patton.
His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 28, 2018, in St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20 Dill Ave., Perkasie, PA 18944. Please arrive promptly as there will be no calling hour prior to the memorial service. Visitors may greet the family after the service or at the funeral luncheon.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
