Even though the miles and life's duties made our visits infrequent, we were never strangers. The importance of family was undeniable, and those visits have left me with so many fond memories.
There had always been an attraction between Mike Jr. and the family dogs, and oh how we looked forward to our walks through the woods and farmlands with a pack of furry friends. Kids and animals have the purest of hearts and the simplicity of our walks and little talks created such a sense of escape and freedom in this complex world. Mike Jr. was truly a joy in my life.
I believe that if I could ask him what he would like me to do, he would tell me to help all the "Rosco's" who have no home, no one to love them........no family. So in his memory, and for all my memories of our shared bond, I have made a donation to my local animal shelter. I believe he would be pleased.
The sadness of his loss will never go away but neither will my memories. I count my blessings for having had him as my Nephew.
