Obituary for Henry Lloyd Rush

Henry Lloyd Rush, 81, of Telford, went to be with The Lord in the presence of his wife Edna and daughter Erin on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township.

He was the beloved husband of Edna (Derstine) Rush for 36 years.

Henry was born in Bucks County on July 14, 1936 to the late Willis and Miriam (Alderfer) Rush.

Henry was a 1954 graduate of Souderton High School, where he had been a percussionist member of the marching band.

He served our country faithfully in the U. S. National Guard for five years.

Employed at Nyce Manufacturing and Printing for 37 years, Vernfield, he had worked in positions from pressman to supervisor. Most recently, he had worked as a driver for Best of Times Limousines, Hatfield.

He had attended LCBC Church, Harleysville.

A member and former president of the Souderton branch of Jaycees, Henry was also a member of the Souderton Grundsow Lodge and was a drummer for the Serenader's Orchestra for 25 years.

He enjoyed photography, backyard bird feeding and watching, annual fishing trips to Canada, playing tennis, pinochle, traveling, and loving life. He was a 38-year season ticket holder of the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles.

In addition to his wife Edna, he is survived by his children, Blair Henry Rush and his wife Susan, of Telford; Erin Rush and her partner, Reta Paul, of Quakertown; Clifford Rush and his wife Diane, of Souderton; Rebecca Patzer and her husband Steven, of Sellersville; and his children’s mother, Barbara Rush, of Telford; his step–children, Jon Michael Smith (Lola, of Telford) and his wife Katherine, of the Philippines; Douglas Smith and his wife Patricia, of Telford; and Alicia Hanta, of Alaska (Lee Hanta, of Honolulu); his siblings, Dorcas Bixler and her husband Clair, of Orrville, OH; Harold Rush and his wife Carol, of Telford; and Mary Beer, of Quakertown; his grandchildren, Jesse, Kayla, Bethany, Elizabeth, Edward, Alexandra, Austin, Danielle, Jackson, and Sean; and his step–grandchildren, Jon, Jason, Jared, Jenna, Hayley, Ani, and Jacob; and great – grandchildren, Madison, Kaiya, Kaden, Evelyn, Anna, and Damon; many nieces and nephews, and his beloved cat “Fluffer.”

Henry donated his remains to science through Humanity's Gifts Registry of Pennsylvania.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 23, 2018, in the Souderton Brethren in Christ Church, 494 Cherry Road, Souderton, PA 18964, where a visitation will be held from 2:00 -3:00 p.m. A luncheon will follow the service.
