Obituary for Robert I. Weidemoyer

Robert I. Weidemoyer, of Sellersville, passed away on Friday, February 16, in Abington -Lansdale Hospital-Jefferson Health, Hatfield Township. He was 89.

He was the husband of the late Theresa A. (Laverick) Weidemoyer, with whom he had celebrated 54 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2008.

Born in Sellersville, he was the son of the late Irwin B. and Grace A. (Weaver) Weidemoyer.

Mr. Weidemoyer was a proud U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War in airplane maintenance on three aircraft carriers, the “Plough,” “Nimitz,” and “Midway,” during his time in the Seabees.

Bob had worked as a meat cutter with ACME Markets for 31 years until his retirement.

A long-time member of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Sellersville, he had served as an usher and was a member of the Silver and Gold Club. Bob was also a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus.

He was a lifelong member and former chaplain of the Nase-Kraft American Legion, Post 255, Sellersville, a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 1539, Sellersville, and a former member of the Sellersville Volunteer Fire Department.

One of Bob’s greatest joys occurred earlier this month when his beloved Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl.

Mr. Weidemoyer is survived by his three children, Dennis D. Weidemoyer and his wife, Jane, of
Perkiomenville; Pamela M. Wulterkens, of Sellersville; and Robert J. Weidemoyer, of Perkasie; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Colleen, Sarah, Maria, Molly, Victoria, and Adam; six great-grandchildren, Claire, Lily, Zachary, Brielle, Valentina, and Massimo; and two sisters, Adeline P. Shelly, of Grants Pass, OR, and Shirley A. Wieks, of Richlandtown.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Josephine Gerhart and Paul B. Weidemoyer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 21, in St.
Agnes Roman Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Calling hours will be held from 6:00 -7:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 20, in the Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960 and also on Wednesday morning from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment will be in the adjacent parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors, 3900 Woodland Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
