Susan McLane, of Prospectville, passed away Monday, June 5, 2017, in Abington Hospice at Warminster. She was 64.

She was the beloved wife of Andy Phillips for eight years.

Born in Frederick, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Stanley R., Jr. and Mary Jo (Stone) McLane.

In 1958, the family moved to Prospectville. Sue attended Simmons Elementary School and graduated from Hatboro-Horsham High School in 1970. She attended Montgomery County Community College and later received a Master’s in psychology from West Chester University.

Sue joined the Air Force Reserves in the early 1980s, completing basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Following her father’s death in 1984, Sue decided to remain at the family home to care for her mother.

She was employed for 22 years as an animal care technician at Merck and Company, Inc., West Point.

In 2009, Sue married the love of her life, Andy Phillips. They stayed at the Prospectville home, caring for Sue's mother until her death in 2016. Unfortunately, Sue was diagnosed with ALS in December 2016.

Sue loved the outdoors, especially caring for her three acres of heaven in Prospectville. Interested in wild birds, especially woodpeckers, she tended to all birds with her many bird feeders. She also enjoyed watching bluebirds raise their broods in the garden birdhouse.

Sue had also enjoyed walking through the woods, pathways lined with wildflowers, tilling the garden, and planting a fresh crop of vegetables every year. She took great pains to keep everything natural and planted many varieties of trees.

Devoted to all animals, Sue had especially loved her kitties, owning many memorable fur balls through the years from “Momma Kitty” to “Big Fur” to “Yank” to her beloved “Sunkist.” Her cats were truly her children.

A “Star Trek” fan, Sue had often laughed about the terrible B movies on the Syfy Channel.

Sue could light up a room with her happy soul, infectious laugh, and brilliant smile. Holidays were a time to dress up, eat well, and laugh. We will always be better people for knowing and growing up with Boosan.

In addition to her husband, Sue is survived by a sister, Anna M. Edling, and her husband, Charles Malinauskas, of Chalfont; a brother, Zachary Stone McLane, and his wife, Cecelia, of West Rockhill Township; her step-children, Kristy Inman and her husband, Jason, of Oklahoma City, OK; Stacey Carichner, of Lake Ariel, PA; Rachel Dennis and her husband, Gary, of Scranton; and seven grandchildren, Merci, Shilah, Carley, Emma, Serah, Roy, and Paul.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved cat, “Sunkist.”
