Obituary for Marietta Reese
Marietta Reese, formerly of Silverdale, passed away at her residence in the Lutheran Community at Telford on Sunday, March 12, 2017. She was 93.
She was the beloved wife of W. Albert Reese for 68 years until his death in 2010.
Born in Sellersville, she was the daughter of the late John C., Sr. and Barbara (Landis) Solliday. Marietta was a 1941 graduate of Sell-Perk High School.
Mrs. Reese had been employed as the secretary/treasurer for the family-owned Reese’s Garage, Inc., Silverdale, retiring in 1997.
Marietta was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Perkasie.
Like her husband, the former mayor of Silverdale for many years, Mrs. Reese was extremely civic-minded. She was a member of the Perkasie Woman’s Club, where she had served a term as vice-president. She was also actively involved with the Silverdale Recreation Association, serving as treasurer from 1974-1985.
Elected to the Pennridge School Board, Mrs. Reese served from 1969-1975. She was a Republican Party Committeewoman from 1973-2000 and also a member of the Bucks County Republican Committee.
Mrs. Reese is survived by her children, Sandra Lee Schuler and her husband, Robert, of Telford; William S. Reese and his wife, Patricia, of Polk City, FL; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, William Edward Reese, in 1982, and a brother, John C. Solliday, Jr.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 17, in the Luther Rose Chapel of the Lutheran Community at Telford, 12 Lutheran Home Drive, Telford, PA 18969, where a visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m.
Private graveside services will be conducted at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Silverdale Recreation Association, c/o Silverdale Borough Office, P.O. Box 187, Silverdale, PA 18962.
