Obituary for Donald L. Barndt

Donald L.  Barndt
Donald L. “Duke” Barndt, of Telford, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016, in Doylestown Hospital. He was 77.

He was the beloved husband of Peggy (Burns) Barndt for 56 and one-half years.

Born in Telford, he was the son of the late Earl and Evelyn (Price) Barndt. He attended Souderton High School.

Donald had been employed as the night custodian of the Eureka Stone Quarry, Chalfont. He had also been a night custodian with the former Holiday Inn, Kulpsville. Previously, he had been employed with Lansdale Transportation and as a woodworker with Earl M. Barndt Furniture Frames, Telford.

He was a longtime member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Sellersville, where he had been an usher and a greeter and served on the Property Committee.

Donald was formerly a member of the NRA and the Souderton - Harleysville Game, Fish and Forestry Association, Tylersport.

Along with his wife, Donald was an avid Civil War re-enactor with the 93rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Re-enactment Group, based in Lebanon. He also enjoyed metal detecting.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Barndt is survived by his two daughters, Donna Walsh, of Telford; Patti Crossin (Dave), of Souderton; three grandchildren, Erica Hunsberger, Teisha Gabet, and Zach Crossin; one great-grandson, Julien Gabet; two brothers, Dale Barndt (Immaculata) and David Barndt, all of Sevierville, Tennessee; two sisters, Margie Mastramatto, of Ambler, and Linda Mirabella (Lonnie), of Cape Coral, Florida; and his beloved cat, “Cleo.”

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Fritz and Shirley Hartzell, and two brothers, Robert Barndt and Gerald Barndt.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 1, in St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 25 East Church Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call at the church Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow in Sellersville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Lutheran Church at the above address.
