Obituary for Richard J. Scholl

Richard J.  Scholl
Richard J. Scholl, of Perkasie, passed away peacefully with family members in attendance, on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, in Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse, Philadelphia. He was 80.

He was the beloved husband of Charmaine (Fox) Scholl for 51 years.

Born in Hellertown, he was the son of the late George and Beatrice (Weaver) Scholl. He was a 1953 graduate of Hellertown High School.

Mr. Scholl had served in the Pennsylvania National Guard.

Richard had been employed for 38 years as a tool and die maker for the U.S. Gauge Division of Ametek, Inc., Sellersville, retiring in 1998. Previously, he had been an auto mechanic in Hellertown.

Richard was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church, Hellertown.

He enjoyed restoring classic automobiles, owning two 1957 Chevrolets and a 1991 Corvette, all with original parts. Richard was a member of the Classic Car Club of America, participating in and frequently winning car shows nationally.

He was patriotic and had enjoyed golfing.

A talented French horn musician beginning in high school, he had played in the Quakertown Band for many years. Richard had also played with many bands and orchestras in southeastern PA.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, David A. Scholl, and his wife, Autherine, of Philadelphia; a brother-in-law, John Fox, of Quakertown; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his twin brother, Robert Scholl, who died in 1989.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, in St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 25 East Church Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will take place beginning at 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow in Sellersville Cemetery.
