Obituary for Edward T. Gresko

Edward T.  Gresko
Edward T. Gresko, of Perkasie, formerly of Bedminster and Philadelphia, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015, at his residence. He was 92.

He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth J. (Reid) Gresko for 63 years until her death in 2006.

Born in Collegeville, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Kridla) Gresko.

Mr. Gresko was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a structural draftsman in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II with assignments in New Guinea, the Philippines, and Japan. He was awarded three Bronze Stars.

Following his military service, Ed graduated from Drexel University, Philadelphia, with a degree in mechanical engineering.

Mr. Gresko had been employed for many years as a senior engineer and consultant for Mack Truck Inc., based in Allentown. Prior to that, he was also actively involved in the design and construction of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Over the years, Mr. Gresko had also taught mathematics and engineering classes at the Upper Bucks Technical School, Perkasie.

He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville.

A member of the John Rivers Memorial VFW Post 11322, Quakertown, Ed had also been a member of the Pennridge Community Center and the Paletown Rod and Gun Club.

Ed was a licensed pilot and had owned his own plane, flying out of Pennridge Regional Airport and Philadelphia Northeast Airport. When living in Philadelphia, he had built the family home.

A talented artist, Ed had enjoyed oil painting. He had also been an avid hunter and fisherman.

Mr. Gresko is survived by three sons: Gary Gresko, Oriental, NC; Donald Gresko, Florida; Raymond Gresko, Ft. Worth, TX; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two nephews, Robert M. Gresko, Bradenton, FL; Richard Gresko, Newtown; and a niece, Patricia Weber, Schaumburg, IL

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth and Anna, and two brothers, Steven and Michael.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, December 17, in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. There will be no visitation prior to Mass.

Interment with military honors will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church at the address above.
