Obituary for Joan Ann (Wilson) Calafati

Joan Ann Calafati, of Sellersville, passed away suddenly Wednesday, October 28, 2015. She was 75.

She was the beloved wife of Philip C. Calafati for 56 years.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late David J. and Genevieve C. (Young) Wilson.

Joan was a graduate of Pennridge High School and later graduated from Chestnut Hill Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia.

Mrs. Calafati had been employed as a charge nurse at Miller’s Nursing Home, Quakertown for several years and then worked as an EKG technician at Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township for more than 20 years.

Joan was a lifelong member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville.

When her children were young, Mrs. Calafati had volunteered and served as an official with the Pennridge Gators and Upper Bucks YMCA competitive swim teams, Greenjackets Youth Football and Cheerleading. She had also been actively involved in many other community activities with her family.

Joan loved to cook and spent many hours preparing delicious meals for family and friends. She delighted in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren, attending their many musical and theatrical performances and enjoying academic and athletic events.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Calafati is survived by her children, Mark Calafati and his wife, Barbara, of Topton; Diana Coleman and her husband, Brooks; Terry Maseloff and her husband, Andrew, all of Quakertown; Beth Barrett and her husband, John, of Glen Mills; eight grandchildren, Lisa Massa and her husband, Steven; Philip Calafati; Mitchell and Tyler Coleman; Derek and Olivia Maseloff; and Anna and Ava Barrett.

She is also survived by her siblings, David Wilson and his wife, Diane; Jean Corcoran and her husband, Jim; Donald Wilson and his wife, Christine; Larry Wilson and his wife, Sue; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Frank Calafati.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Tuesday, November 3, in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, with a visitation from 9 until 9:45 a.m.

Interment will follow in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.
