Obituary for Elaine (Slotter) Ottinger

Elaine (Slotter)  Ottinger
Elaine Ottinger, formerly a long-time resident of East Rockhill Township, passed away Tuesday, July 21 at her residence in the Rockhill Mennonite Community, West Rockhill Township. She was 92.

She was the beloved wife of the late Roland Ottinger for nearly 60 years, until his death in 2007.

Born in Perkasie, she was the daughter of the late Theodore N. and Laura H. (Beer) Slotter. Elaine was a 1940 graduate of Sell-Perk High School.

Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Ottinger had also been employed as a payroll clerk for 22 years at the former Royal Pants Company, Perkasie.

Elaine was a life member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie.

She had been a member of the former Women of the Order of the Woodmen of the World, a fraternal benefits organization.

An avid vegetable and flower gardener, Elaine’s other interests included reading and playing the piano. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and assembling jigsaw puzzles.

Mrs. Ottinger is survived by her four children: James Ottinger and his wife, Susan, of Elverson; Richard Ottinger and his wife, Terry, of East Greenville; Kathy Ottinger, of Perkasie; and Charles Ottinger and his wife, Kim, of Lehighton; seven grandchildren: Gregory, Derek, Lynette, Andrew, Timothy, Matthew, and Brett Ottinger; six great-grandchildren: Nathan, Connor, Kiera, Grace, Caroline, and Christopher Ottinger; and a brother, Carl Slotter, and his wife, Doris, of Allentown.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Nicholas Ottinger, two brothers, Ralph Slotter and Winfield Slotter, and a sister, Marian Nungesser.

All are invited to graveside services to be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 28, at Kellers Church Cemetery, 3740 Ridge Road, Perkasie, PA 18944. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 19 South Fifth Street, Perkasie, PA 18944.
