Obituary for Lucy A. Detweiler

Lucy A.   Detweiler
Lucy A. Detweiler, of Sellersville, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at her residence. She was the beloved wife of the late Russel L. Detweiler, who died in 1975. She was 97.

Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Luisi (Schwindey) Hartl.

Mrs. Detweiler had been employed as a seamstress at the former Eagle Shirt Company, of Quakertown. She later worked in the kitchen at the Rockhill Mennonite Home, of Sellersville, and in the deli at the former Clemens Market, of Perkasie.

She attended Little Zion Lutheran Church, Telford and was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ridge Valley.

Lucy loved to cook, bake, and garden. She also found comfort in reading her Bible and daily devotionals.

Mrs. Detweiler is survived by her three daughters, Barbara A. Aker, of Sellersville; Kathy M. Evans, of Telford; Kim L. Detweiler and her husband, John, of Marlborough Township; five grandchildren: Ed Aker, of Sellersville; Evan Aker, of Ambler; Linda Boyer, of Sellersville; Jennifer Detweiler, of Charlottesville, VA; Myke Detweiler, of Barto; two great-grandchildren, Erica Boyer and Deidre Boyer; and a great-great-grandson, Adam.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Hartl, and a sister, Elsie Fluck.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 19, at Little Zion Lutheran Church, 267 Morwood Road, Telford, PA 18969, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service. (If using a GPS to locate the church, please use 799 Bergey Road, Telford, Pennsylvania.)

Interment will be in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Ridge Valley.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Detweiler’s memory may be made to Little Zion Lutheran Church, 267 Morwood Road, Telford, PA 18969.
