Obituary for Joann Iacono

Joann  Iacono
Joann Iacono, of Willow Grove, formerly of North Wales, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, at her residence. She was 57.

Born in Norristown, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Macrillanti) Iacono. She had been a Girl Scout.

She was a 1978 graduate of North Penn High School, where she had participated in the Special Olympics. After graduation, she attended the North Penn Training Center, Hatfield.

Joann had been employed at the DEC Sheltered Workshop, Hatfield for over 25 years. Most recently, she had worked at the ASI Workshop, Willow Grove, from 2007 until her retirement in 2011.

She had been a member of Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church, North Wales.

Following her father’s death in 2007, Joann moved into the Lynch Homes - Ridgeway, Willow Grove, where she developed a strong bond with her caregivers, especially Ruth Suber and Annette Babb.

Joann had enjoyed doing Seek-a-Word Puzzles, bowling, and watching the Phillies. She had also enjoyed workshop-sponsored holiday parties and Jersey shore vacations with her family.

She is survived by her sister, Louise Doll, and her husband, Rick, of Perkasie; her brother, Fred Iacono, and his wife, Gina, of Harleysville; three nephews: Karl R. Doll and his wife, Keeta, of Shoreview, MN; Anthony Iacono, of Wilmington, DE; Michael Iacono, of Harleysville; a niece, Laura Iacono, of Harleysville; and her extended family and caregivers from Ridgeway.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 6, in Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church, 1325 Upper State Road, North Wales, PA 19454, where a visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Interment will follow in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.
