Obituary for James J. Virden

James J. Virden, 66, of Perkasie, passed away Friday morning, October 18, 2013, in Abington Hospice at Warminster. He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann (Davis) Virden for 46 years.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late James Virden and the late Margaret (Bradley) Virden Mikol.

Mr. Virden was a U. S. Navy veteran, having served during the Vietnam War.

Jim had been the owner and president of Lindhult and Jones, Inc., an advertising agency in Dublin.

An avid runner, Jim had also trained as a triathlete. He also enjoyed skiing and basketball. Passionate about books, nature, animals, music, films, and fine food, he had enjoyed traveling the world and felt privileged to have seen much of it.

Also a talented writer, Jim had penned entertaining memoirs of his childhood and life experiences.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Virden is survived by his two children: James Virden and his wife, Tracy; Fay Goldberg and her husband, Howard; a grandson, Jack Goldberg; and two brothers: Robert Virden and his long-time companion, Jan Mohan; Edward Mikol and his long-time companion, Elisabeth Bogtstra; and a step-sister, Pat Maffei.

His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 26, in the Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Friends may call from 12 Noon until time of service at the funeral home.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. Virden’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
