Obituary for Ralph G. Newsome, Sr.

Ralph G. Newsome, Sr., of Port Orange, Florida, formerly of Sellersville and Perkasie, passed away at his residence on Thursday, September 12. He was the husband of Marjorie (Anderson) Newsome and the late Irma G. (Bergey) Newsome. He was 89.

Ralph was born in Camden, New Jersey. He had attended Hilltown High School.

Mr. Newsome was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II in the European Theater of Operations.

Ralph had been employed at American Olean Tile, Lansdale for many years. Prior to his military duty, he had worked on a farm in Perkasie. He had also rolled lawns in the area.

He had been a member of Hilltown Baptist Church.

He moved to Florida in 1987.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Newsome is survived by his children: Jean M. Kopp and her husband, Dennis, of Lansdale; Ralph G. Newsome, Jr., and his friend, Joanne Flynn, of Quakertown; three granddaughters: Anita, Amy, and Ashley; five great-granddaughters; and a brother, Sylvester Newsome, and his wife, Carol, of Harleysville.

A graveside service, with military honors, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 27, at Hilltown Baptist Cemetery, Upper Church and Stump Roads, Hilltown, PA 18927.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mr. Newsome’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
