An active member of St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie since 1941, Martin had served as the sexton, Sunday school superintendant and as an usher.

He was the president of the annual Garden Party Auxiliary fundraiser at the Lutheran Home at Germantown. He also had been a member of the Perkasie American Legion.
