Willard  VanOmmeren
Willard VanOmmeren, 78, of Harleysville, formerly of Perkasie, passed away early Sunday morning, July 22, in the Peter Becker Community, Harleysville. He was the beloved husband of Margery (Boorse) VanOmmeren. They would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on August 5, 2007.

Born in West Rockhill Township, he was a son of the late Henry and Elsie (Groff) VanOmmeren. He was raised in Perkasie and was a 1946 graduate of Sell-Perk High School. In 1950 he graduated from Virginia Military Institute (VMI), Lexington, VA, with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. From 1950-1952, he taught at VMI. He received his Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, in 1953.

With his late father-in-law, Joseph Boorse, Mr. VanOmmeren founded Branch Valley Associates, in Sellersville, a general contracting company, which has built many churches, commercial and industrial buildings in Bucks and Montgomery counties, including structures at the Peter Becker Community.

He was a member of Immanuel Leidy’s Church, Souderton, where he had served as an elder and a deacon.

Mr. VanOmmeren was a past President of the Board of Directors of Grand View Hospital, Sellersville. In addition, he served as Chairman of the Building Committee for a major expansion of the hospital. He was also a member of the Association of Building Contractors.

Will loved hunting, fishing, and traveling with his wife and family. He also enjoyed music and had sung in several church choirs.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Robert and his wife, Kristene, of Highlandville, Missouri; James and his wife, Catharine, of Fogelsville; five grandchildren: Jonathan, Andrew, Elizabeth, Gregory, and Sharon; and a brother: Richard and his wife, Gayla, of Macungie. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel.

His Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 27, at 11:00 AM in Immanuel Leidy’s, Church, 276 West Cherry Lane, Souderton, PA 18964. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to Grand View Hospice, 700 Lawn Avenue, Sellersville, PA 18960 or to Immanuel Leidy’s Church Building Fund, at the above address.
